Holy Ghost paint scheme...

B&C's SM Painter has Termies now! This is my paint scheme as it stands now. The brownish color is supposed to be bronze as their colors are Blue and Bronze.

On your mark...

Restarting a hobby can be a daunting task, regardless of the length of your hiatus. I've been playing Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Fantary off and on since 2004 when some of my students got me interested in it. Theatre students can be so cool. Space Marines have always possessed a mystique that plays upon my love of knights and their chivalric code. As such, my longest running army has been a DIY (Do It Yourself) Codex Chapter that has been patterned after Ultramarines and Dark Angels (mainly because the robes fit in with my monastic fluff). I began with the Battle for Macragge set, selling the 'Nids to a friend. The "starter" sets are a great place to get a jumpstart into the hobby. From that couple of Tactical Squads, my force has continued to blossom in fits and starts into a force of 4,000+ points.

I love the creativity involved in converting and kit bashing. For those of you who might not know, converting is basically when you build a model with parts from other kits and your own sculpting and/or scratchbuilt pieces. I pieced this Ironclad together from different pieces collected over months...

My burgeoning force now includes new models primed and ready for paint: a converted Chapter Master with Relic Blade and Storm Shield, Sternguard Veteran Sgt. with Power Fist and Combi-Melta (rest of the squad to come shortly), Assault Terminators with Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields (magentized arms), Master of the Forge with magentized Conversion Beamer and Servo-harness, Drop Pod, Whirlwind, Ironclad Dread, Venerable Dread, and Multi-melta Dread (which brings me to a total of 5 Dreads at the moment).

Awaiting creation are a bike with magnetized options for a Master of the Forge, chaplain and a Chapter Captain (trying to be frugal and keep my options open), robed Sternguard Veteran Squad with combi-weapons, magnetized Predator, a new Bastion, and a whole lotta paintin'!

A Place to Archive My 40k Endeavors...

I began playing Warhammer 40,000 (40k) back in 2004...then took a hiatus...then started again in 2006 (along with Warhammer Fantasy Battles)...then took another hiatus...and restarted again in 2009...then took one more hiatus, swearing to give up the game entirely due to one individual...and now, thanks to Robert of www.ForTheEmperor.com, I am back again. I started with everyone's favorite, Space Marines...mainly because my wife thought the Necrons looked "evil". I then dallied with the Ruinous Powers playing Nurgle worshipping Plague Marines. I mainly liked the conversion and sculpting possibilities with the models. My recent foray back into the 41st Millenium has been with Loyalist Space Marines.

My Chapter's name is "The Holy Ghosts". I named them that because I wanted to declare my love of God even in my hobby. I was told that Latin isn't what is used in the 40k Universe, rather it is a Latin/Greek/made-up creation. Even so, my Chapter's name in Latin is "Sanctus Lemures".

I've created my Chapter based on the Ultramarines and their successors. Created during the 16th Founding, The Holy Ghosts were originally a stalwart Company of the Ultramarines. The Company was lead by then Capt. Cassian Ranos and ministered to by then Chaplain Mordecai Anteri. Ranos and Anteri held their men to the strictest standards of piety and righteousness, earning the Company the reputation of being uncorruptable dispensers of the Emperor's Justice. They eventually caught the eye of Grand Inquisitor Justinius Occultus, who championed their bid for Chapterhood. Many a Xeno and Heretic fell to the combined might of Occultus' Grey Knights, the Holy Ghosts, and the Sisters of Silence. Eventually, Occultus strayed too close to the Warp and was unredeemably corrupted. He betrayed the Ghosts and the Sisters, sending many to their deaths or worse. The Chapter began recruiting in earnest after their decimation...
